I've owned an FD for the past three years and I'm comtemplating buying a broken down FB to maybe fix up. I think I could basically get one for $100 to $200 max, maybe even less than $100. I called my Mazda dealer, to ask about a broken down red FB behind their shop. Turns out, they have three more back there, all abandoned due to the customer not being able to pay the repair bill. They have been sitting there for years. The service manager thought it was funny I asked about them since he was actually in the process of getting titles on them, and they were looking to get rid of them.

Do you first gen guys think this is something to get into or not?

 

Sounds good - offer to take the lot off them for $1000 and a case of beer. You'd make your money back on parts and have one good one left over to restore.

I think I'll go by there this afternoon and get the year/model/mileage of them as well as an estimated run down of whats wrong with them. I could get all four for less than $1000 I'm pretty sure. Even the service manager said $200 max for each.

Yea, take all of them it will make you realy appreciate the 1st gen. Best of them all, but of course that is just my opinioun.
