first post here, setup idea

ive been on nopistons.com for quite some while now, and just thought i would post over here, with more fellow entheusiest.

so heres my car, a 1984 gsl-se , full racign beat exhaust, no car, racing beat header, racing beat springs and shocks all around.

i loved the car when i bought it, but i was in search of more power, being new to NA rotary, i thought the only way to get power was to swap in a 13bT. however ive learned of a setup.

i need 12a end plates, getting an agressive street port, a webber 48 ida carb and a nice fuel pump, from what ive been told, this setup is good for around 200 to the wheels, my reason for posting this here was to see if anyone has tried said setup and if so what were your power gains and any advice i may be overlooking.

Not sure about how much power you will get but if you need a good endplate I can hook you up. I have a spare dizzy, also.

I had a street ported 6-port 13b and a 48IDA for about 1 1/2 years. I never dyno tested it but comparing to the setup that I have now (which makes about 170 at the wheels) I'd say it was making about 140-150 at the wheels. It had decent low end torque, lots of open to closed throttle backfires, and wouldn't run if it was colder than about 50F.

Same engine + fuel injection = better driveability, less tempermental, more power

i have the ida 48 and the only trouble i have is alittle sputtering in the low rpms. I would think i have around 200 at the wheels, but i also have MSD and a few other goodies. I like my setup on the 12a i dont know how well it works on the 13b.

Well come and lets see some pics of your Rex.

Really? You think you're making 200 at the wheels with a 12a? What porting do you have?

but it may be different due to me bulding a 4 port with that setup, wouldnt power gains be a bit more?

It could be, but then again, it might not. Porting is such an art form. Mine was built by TR Rotorsports in Denver. He makes some pretty strong engines and is very successful in racing.

Dispite what others on the board say, a 6 port can be very effectively street ported. Check out my dyno sheet here:

As for advice, I'd recommend FI. If you have to have a carb and this is a street car, I'd use something better suited to the 8000rpm range of a rotary. Something with a choke and 4 barrels.
