i personally always use castrol 20W50 and a napa gold or purolator pure one oil filter. mostly the napa gold though. a lot of guys will use different brands of oil and filters. this is just what i personally always use, has always worked well for me. just food for thought, mobile one drive clean is a great oil to run for cleaning out a used or junkyard engine.

I read that chart as saying "Where Jon lives, 10w30 should be used"

i dont think Jon would get lower oil pressure. I use 10w30 and it has good pressure. Now that summer is here i switched to 10w40. I use Castrol GTX high mileage. K&N oil filter usually or a PURE One or Fram Tough Guard. All work quite well!

thats really interesting to know. i've used 20W50 for so long it just seems weird to hear of others using 10W30, but according to the manual and other's responses, its perfectly fine.

Before my oil sender broke I was seeing 2kg/cm2 at idle and 4kg/cm2 under load.

According to any reference I can find, that's perfectly alright oil pressure.

I've got Pennzoil 20w50 in both my FB and my FC. The FB I have a Pennzoil PZ33 filter and the FC I have a Fram filter on. I hear alot of people bitch about not using Fram because it's crap but I've used them for years without any problems whatsoever. If I wasn't a cheap bastard though I would use a K&N filter

20W50 PENZOIL works great for a street driven car castrols viscocity on a rotary seems to break down really quick but the best filter to use is a OE mazda filter thats what we use on all our race cars and works great i when i didnt know any better i would use fram or k and n and use to blow them to **** then i met a old school road racer who told me about the oe filters and from ther on thats all ive ever used that and torco oil that **** is unreal

Nope, it's an 84GS, but I've got a set of -LE rims being powdercoated for it as we speak. Gloss Black centres and polished lips with Sumitomo tires

I got the sunroof off e-bay, the taillights were done by IoTus, and the corners are by Dan Atkins. Rubber antenna thanks to Radio Shack, lol.

And that's pretty much all I've done to the exterior. The vast majority of my changes have been in the engine bay, and on the drivetrain and suspension.

hmm..from the pic it looks like its painted chaotoe(spelling) silver. which is the LE color. are the rims you have epelson 92 mesh? i was plannin on doing a lot to mine...but its not a option anymore. but your car looks pretty clean. just can't see that pic very well.

Wheels on the car in the pic are stock + rims powdercoated black with a sorta chameleon metallic to it.

The wheels that I'm getting are the stock 14" '83 Limited Edition mesh wheels, but they're going to have the lips polished and the centres powdercoated gloss black.

I don't know anything about Epsilon rims... I just kept my eyes open around here for '83LE rims

I read a thread in another forum that was very informative concerning oils, and more specifically, which one is best. As I am sure we can all agree, for everyone that knows someone that tore down an engine that used Quaker State, and was full of sludge, there is someone else that had a perfectly clean one. This dichotomy goes for every brand of oil on the market. The guy that wrote this thread said he used to be high up in the oil industry. He said that all oil sold in the USA after 199? was required to quit adding one of the components that make it slicker. The only oils that don't have to follow this guideline are oils specifically designed for diesel engines. These oils are fine for use in gas engines as well. I have a 1982 rx that, when I purchased it used some oil. After some research I discovered they are designed to do just that. Mine, however, used substantially more than design would dictate. I changed the oil and used Rotella-T 15w-40 and consumption went to exactly what everything said it should be.
