first gen Turbo II throttle cable
I've got an 84 gsl-se with a turbo II swap. The throttle cable snapped inside, I'm trying to order a new one. dose the 84 Gsl-se cable work or do I need to get a Turbo II cable.
Also Will the Gsl-se Speedomiter cable work, or do I need to get a second gen speedomiter cable.

I was wondering the same thing. I read somewhere that you needed a t2 throttle cable when doing a swap into a first gen so I had someone grab me one from the jyard today.

I used the T2 throttle cable--but I don't like how it looks looping all the way around the engine bay. It may be possible to reconfigure the attach points on the TB and use the SE cable but I haven't seen it done yet.
And yea just use the SE speedo cable, hooks up with no problem and works perfect.

Having seen a TII engine in it's native bay, and my 12a in my 84 I can tell you with relative certainty that the stock 1st gen throttle cable isn't gonna work. The reason the TII cable loops all the way around the engine bay is because the TII's throttle assembly was built with the idea that you'd be driving a RHD car. To make it LHD, you need the extra-long cable that loops wide so that it doesn't bind inside it's tube.
I'm sure if it was easy to change the TII throttle mount point Mazda would have done it for all their LHD cars, but the fact that they didn't tells me that it's probably a Pain In The ***!

I used a first gen "tube" with a custom cable inside. Custom means a motorcycle throttle/brake cable cut to length. It's just what it should be. But indeed, a normal first gen cable won't work.
