Finally some pics of Hammy's 83 GS

Hey guys,

I thought that I would post some pics of my 83 GS since I haven't shared any since I bought it. I purchased the car from another forum member in Ohio. He traded a dirtbike for it, since the car wasn't running at the time. Apparently it was just bad plugs. I've never had any trouble with it so far, and I seem to be getting nice puffs from all rotor faces. Anyway, I'm in the middle of a carb rebuild and a brake job so please forgive the mess...

Here is what I have done to her so far...

-RB/Magnaflow/Walker Exhaust
-Taurus Electric Fan with Painless fan wiring kit
-2nd gen oil cooler (with Trochoid mounting) & new hoses
-Holley regulator
-1-15 psi fuel pressure gauge
-New NGK plug wires
-Removed rats nest
-Removed AC
-Removed all other emissions
-Wiring harness diet
-Removed stereo
-Miata short shifter (yes I figured out how to do it on an 83 tranny)
-New shift boot and ebrake boot from Bill Telotte on ebay
-Glass roof (not in pictures)
-Working on some + wheels with painted centers (not done yet)
-Mechanical secondaries on the Nikki
-Channeled & plugged intake mani (no butterfly either)
-Removed OMP
-New rubber antenna to replace the old automatic one. (It's purely to fill up the hole since I have no radio.)

Probably some other stuff I forgot. That's about all I've got in the works for right now. And I've included a bonus picture of the bassett hound...

Yeah, I'll never forget my first Rx. Sometimes I wonder if I should've held onto it. I don't know where it is even at now. It was on the forum for a while, got supercharged by Rotaryshack, and then sold on ebay. I miss old Ricky from time to time, but I have to say that overall my new 83 GS (Rosie) is a much more solid car all around. However, I have to admit that Ricky would blow the doors off of this new one. At least for the time being. I'll get her up to speed though...

Long Live Rosie!!!

Not yet. I've only driven it twice since I've owned it. It has breathed fire since April. I've been working on repairing and replacing everything for the last 7 months, which is when I bought it. The first startup will be in the next week or so, after I get the Nikki put back together.

Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan. I'm mainly squeamish about the carby, since it's my first rebuild ever....

The video of your old car was very cool! I bought my FB nearly mint, but would really love to start a project like that, fun. Good luck on the new one

just take your time and do it right with the carb. 7 months is some time, if i had the money and the time to do everything to my car it would be about the same time! i ll be looking fwd to seeing it run!

Ricky was a total pile of junk when I bought him. He probably should have gone to the junkyard. There's not much use for a rusted out automatic first gen. I didn't know that then though. It was hard though, because the engine on had about 90k on it, and ran great. I learned a TON working on that car though. It's nice to have a second chance to do everything right the first time...

Looks nice Jamie. Love the wheels. I may do that to mine. And the dog pic is priceless.

Oh and the carb board is well done.
