You guys should see his roll cage in person. Beautiful work. I got a very good luck at the car at Mazdatrix the night before Sevenstock. Those guys worked all night to get that car done. Fantastic job.

i thought about running a set up very similar to this in my SA. i was planning on using 70's 13b housings street ported with S5 internals. i was going to go the route of a weber rather than fuel injection cause i think itd be too much of a task to run fuel injection in the SA. i kind of gave up on that idea after being told it would be good power, but not too good. after seeing your dyno id say its more than i was expecting.

why did you go with SE and 12a housings? have you ever ran the car in a 1/4 mile? if so, what were your times?

thanks

It's a far cry from the stock 100 or 135.
Thanks. The only thing I will probably do is duct fresh air in better to the filter....right now I'm just sucking in engine compartment air.

any link to this moog heavy duty idler arm? if it works for you, i might have to try it out for myself.
hmmm...very significant? doubtfull. Some....probably. I don't think it's taking all that much in my setup, though I am underdriving the pump by using a smaller pulley and I also have that adjustable valve cranked open for less assist which allows the pump to work less hard. If you saw it you'd understand...I rebuilt the pump (no leaks) and all the braided lines look/work great...the whole system is pretty bad-***, I think.
The steering play is there, but it's not too bad. I notice it more on the street than on the track. I do have an extra steering box that I'm thinking about having rebuit so I can have a nice fresh box...but I havent found a good place to take it to.
I highly recomend the moog idler arm:

FI is not that difficult and so worth it IMHO.
I wanted a four port and the 12a housings are more available, not to mention that the port sizing between the 4 ports are matched, they are all the same size after porting....unlike S4 or S5 housings which are harder to find (more expensive) and have unmatched port sizes, basically not as good.
Oh, and you have to run SE or older rotor housings when using 12a sides.
No, unfortunately I havent been to the strip...it would be interesting.

Oh btw you guys, I weighed the car...Full tank, no driver...2188lbs!

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments

Did you do away with the huge cast iron PS bracket. I forgot all about it till I was cleaning out my garage and found the old pump. Went to move it and JESUS that sucker is heavy!

Under 2200#s is awsome but was it worth it to remove all the interior?

It's funny you said the only thing you were going to do was duct air in to the filter... That's the only thing I could see also

Also, what did you do to the inner fender wells, looks like you made them out of sheetmetal??

Nice car!

yeah I had to use that cast iron piece, it is pretty heavy. Power steering is just nice to have, really nice for drifting....not that I set the car up for just drifting, I am a grip driver first, but I do enjoy the occational drift practice day event.
Is under 2200 lbs. worth the interior, windows, dash, windshield wipers, non-adjustable seat, Loudness, etc? Yes, without a doubt. But this is a 90/10% Track/Street car. Other than the occational Sunday drive or car show/get together I dont drive it on the sreet. For a daily driver, no way. Keep the interior.
We reinforced the front strut towers with 1.5" tube and tied them into the cage. While we were there we also made room for more tire clearance both in width and in height (suspension travel), so yeah, thats sheet metal.

edit: yeah I've been trying to figure out the best way to go about the fresh air thing...hood scoop or front ducts...cant decide

sweet car. i checked it out a lot @ SS8 and talked to Dave a little about the car. It has progressed nicely.

Did u go to WSIR, what times?

neat way to reinforce the front strut towers.

Thanks. I'm sorry I missed you at SS8, it would of been cool to talk. I missed you once before at the last Mazfest too. Dave probably rambled on about how crazy I am to do this to a "street" car.
I went to SOWS yesterday, it was a blast...no lap times though. I have never been on the main track, hopefully someday soon.

250lb rear springs!!! not a gentle ride but not much lean during cornering. Does it oversteer? I had 350 front and 225 rear and I couldn't get on the throttle until well after apex or it would track out much faster (oversteer).
