Thumbs up Finally driving the 7

since getting it back in late Oct and swaping the engine from my 808 in to it, it's pretty much been sitting waiting on insurance, til now. still have a few things to work out yet, but all in all i'm glad to finally be driving it. i'm also running the rx4 rad and oil cooler i had in the 808. the fan i was using got damaged in the wreck. so after taking rough measurememts to utilize the factory mounting holes in the rad for the stock shroud, i searched a local junkyard. i'm going back there to get the year and model of the mitzubishi car i got it from. i took pics to show how well it fits and how i mounted it. also, for those that always post about OMP hookup on a holley, i took pics of that too.

yeah, i'm happy to be driving it now. i think insurance ended up not being as much as the wife thought it would be. it's going to be about $76 more a month. the omp lines was easy. i was looking for something to tie the two lines off the pump into one for the holley. what i found at the local parts store was a plastic vac "T" in the shape of an F. so i put that upside down at the pump and use short pieces of hose between it and the "T". that alowed for just one line up to the carb. the nipple that's in the site plug of the primary bowl was supplied by RB back when the guy that had this setup before got it. don't know if they still put those in their kits anymore or not.

Thumbs up

thank you for the info on the e-fan, am going to look at that option next time am at the stripping yard.
i read a while back, i believe it was you! the Ford Taurus 3.1 fans also work, slim and big enough to cover the complete area of the radiator.
am still getting the parts for my first rebuild and practicing my street porting on some crappy housings but I should start building it soon!
thanks,
Andres

Hey. Just wondering what year 7 you've got and what all you've done to it. I'm in the upstate too, and just aquired a project 7. I may need to get in touch sometime and pick your brain a bit. Have you done all the work yourself, or is there someone in the area who can work on these cars?

few pics here: http://www.theforumlounge.com/v/rxtasy/
it's an '84 base model, probably GS but no badging as such. not sure how far u'd be from me but i'd be happy to help any way i can. yes, i did it all myself along with a friend who lives in boiling springs. we've been dealing with rotarys since mid '80s. the engine is out of my 808 that i wrecked. u'll see pics of it also in that link. it's a long story but in short, the engine is a 13b from a '74 rx4. it was already streetported when i rebuilt it like about 25k miles ago. i do all my own work, and fabrications if needed. the wheels on it is also what i was using on the 808 which r also from the same rx4 that had been widened to 7". suspension is still stock which will probably remain that way as i really can't afford to do any upgrades. pretty much a sleeper like the 808 was. i'm running a slightly different exhaust system than what i had on the 808, which ran a complete sp setup from rb. only thing different is the elimination of the presilencers. it seems to have increased power alittle bit. i'll be glad to help any way i can. i work 2nd shift so weekends r best for me.

RotorRican: yes, many r using the taurus fans and i also checked those during my search. but with the limited space between the wp and rad, this was my best option to fit due to the fact of being thinner than the taurus fans. plus the rx4 rad being shorter than the stock rx7 rad, this fan barely overlaps the tanks.
