Fiero V6 Fan install
Fiero V6 Fan install
TALL RADIATOR

SHORT RADIATOR
(oil cooler below is from a GSL-SE but I used it for illustration purposes)

I trimmed the shroud to clear the oil cooler line (bottom left) and the radiator outlet (bottom right). Also, I used a piece of 2” aluminum plate to properly mount the fan. The aluminum plate is bolted where the original fan shroud was mounted.
PS: Don’t pay attention to the trim @ top left…that’s where I fucked up.

Secured the fan using an “L” bracket from local hardware store.
Left side:

Right side:

FINAL RESULT:
I used a HVAC aluminum tape (silver tape) to cover the gap between the top radiator cover and the aluminum plate. Then painted everything black.

CAUTION:
If the fan is to be used on a FB with 13-B motor equipped with A/C front pulley, it may not work as the Fiero fan motor may not clear the pulley. For 12-A, there’s plenty of room. For the electrical, I just used a fog lights relay and a toggle switch.

Nice job wackyracer..
Here's are some good shots of the clearance on a 12a long radiator. Mine didnt come with the wiring harness. Besides love the chance to get pictures of two IDA carbed cars on the forum
This one looks like a shot of my turbo but if you look to the upper right you and see the water pump pulley and the fan motor. you can also get a good look at the mounting brackets I made for it.

so do you have to take the radiator out to install an e-fan?
also, how difficult would it be to wire the fan to come on automagically?

cpt_gloval go to www.summitracing.com they have a fan setup there that needs no toggle switch or u can do it the little harder/cheaper way by using realys.....i think seanrot knows how....i was actually thinking of using the temperature sensor to turn my fan on and off
I have always used a 16” derale fan but I switched to Fiero V6 fan early 2004. So far, I have no complaint and its able to keep the temp around 180 during hot days/ stop and go LA traffic. Just think about the traffic in LA, and you will pretty much have an idea on how hot it gets. Standing behind the car, I can feel the fan blowing.
Yes, you can purchase auto-switch from summit, or even at pep-boys or any local auto parts. I personally have an old perma cool fan auto-switch where there is a probe that actually goes inside the upper radiator hose.

no. slide the probe between the hose and the hose inlet. the probe has a long capillary tube. so the probe sits inside the hose. Im not sure if the t-stat i've got is still in production since I bought it in late 80's.
