Few Questions Already searched some...

Hey guys, Im new to this forum, but have been at others for a while, anyways I have a few questions (btw, i have an '81 w/ 135k miles, bone stock, except no muffler):
1. is anyone runnin nitrous here? plate system or fogger in the intake mainfold?
2. Sterling carb? I found this guys website, pretty cool, says he'll work the **** outta the nikki carb and do custom mods for your specific area (Denver=no o2!) has anyone done this? good, bad, otherwise?
3. i saw, a long time ago, a post about a person who put an acura integra or similar front bumper on the first gen and it fit perfectly, has anyone done this? recommend?
4. i am getting ready to do the exhaust, i already have the pacesetter header, and was thinking about a straight pipe, but all of the kits i've seen have a presilencer. is this needed? will a good muffler work and not be too loud? also, would a cutout be benificial (at the track only, of course)?
ok, well i hope to get this car runnin well before summer And tax return should be good! any help would be great!

Gregs did the bumper. Looks cool I think. I am about to send my carb in and have it done. Cdrad51 along with multiple others have had the sterling carb mod done. They all have good experiences with it. I personally would do the presilencer thing. Will make it sound good still and also not restrict, just tone it down a bit.

be warned though...with the stirling carb (from what i have heard...i think from stirling and carl) you have to modify your driving style...with their carb...too much gas is deliverd right away form the start...so if you put the peadl to the floor right away...your gonna be fucked...

you need to be soft at first

Good lock passing emissions if you are in Denver metro and start modding. You will need at least a highflow cat, instead of the presilencer.

full exhaust with just some muffler is going to be really loud. racing beat is the only company that can put a muffler on a full exhaust and still be tame.

nitrous, i have no clue, and it's not really recommended IMHO

Sterling carb seems to be a great alternative, yielding about 450cfm which is a lot more flow then stock. I'd imagine with that carb, full exhaust, upgraded fuel pump, you'd be pushing about 140-150 to the crank

Sterling Carbs Rock

I've got one. Awesome carb. It requires a little more discipline with the foot, but you can't get any better

Don't go without a presilencer or cat. Rotaries are MUCH louder than most common piston engines. Racing Beat makes the best exhaust system for flow vs. noise. I've heard Pacesetters can't take the extreme heat and pulsing for very long before they start giving up, not sure how true this is.

NO2? WTF are you nuts? That's so cheap, go buy a civic.

Not that loud Jon, remember I've got the RB muffler with no p/s or cat, and it's not too loud.

BTW blazinjack I also have a Sterling carb. Gotta love those mech secs. Life starts at 4.5k rpm.

Not quite right.

The mechanical secondaries connect the butterflies in the secondary barrels directly to your foot. This means that if you slam your foot to the floor, all four barrels' butterflies are WIDE open. If your engine isn't under enough load when you do this, or you do it suddenly, your car will have way too much air, and the air won't be moving at a fast enough velocity through the venturies to pull fuel out. Too much air + not enough fuel = bog.

In the original Nikki, they had vacuum secondaries. So if you slammed the foot to the floor, the PRIMARY barrels would open fully, but the secondary ones would only open on vacuum pressure that's built up by the engine under higher revs/loads. The disadvantage of vacuum secs is that, although they're idiot proof, they're slow and don't open the secondaries FULLY.

So if you have some finness with your foot, you can open the secondaries faster than vacuum can, but slow enough not to bog. That's the secret.

Now if you just hooked up mech secs on your own, you'd still bog because of lack of fuel when the secs open, but there's a mod that Sterling and Carl do to give you a little boost of fuel to counter that.

And this is why they're the carb experts, and I'm only an airflow apprentice
