Few questions...

ok first of all... my blinkers are acting up. Kinda weird, i thought it just had a left side bulb out but thats not it, all my bulbs seem ok.. Heres the symptoms

1. When i turn the headlights on the blinker lights on the dash light up
2. While headlights are on, right blinkers work, left wont work at all.
3. With headlights off, right blinker work, left blinker work with very rapid blink.
4. Emergency flasher... front right blinks front left blinks, neither back blink, license plate lights blink.

Im sure there are other combinations but these are the ones i remember. What the hell is going on????

Also, im hoping that my low beam just went out on my head light (passenger side) but it was also working not to long ago. Both work high beam, only drivers side works low beam. The weird thing is, 2 months ago, when i checked my lights, they all works perfect.... so why would they all start screwing up now, and where should i start looking and how do i diagnose the problem, without a lot of extra trouble....

Wow, good luck with this one. Maybe you have some bad relays or something.

check for mice too. those little buggers chew up everything!! if you dont find any problems then look in the 'bin' area. since the 79's dont have bins... if the car has ever been towed look under the front of the car there is a round support bar going between the frame rails and in front of the radiator. if some tool wraped around that it could have chewed up the wires that go across that tube.

yeah mice. When I was cleaning out the first GSL-SE I bought, something got stuck in the vacuum. It was a dried up hard mouse. Kinda gross.

The license plate light was flashing?

My guess is that you've got a ground short in your rear harness somewhere, probably the hot side of the left rear flasher. It's pulling the rear supply voltage to zero, making the plate lights dim out.

yea ill check into it after work. the grounded out wires on the back sound like the best idea... so far.... it kinda makes sense and could cause all the problems..

Check the turn signal bulbs first, too, and that ground wire in the rear by the hatch release... open circuits on shared grounds can do strange things, especally if the ground wire is loose.
