A few new parts for my 12a turbo

I've been going to an automotive school for a while now, just started taking hiperformance classes though, so I've started making stuff for my car in class and during my spare time at the machine shop I work at. I just made a strut tower, delrin rear control arm bushings, and delrin engine mounts.

pics-

I added extra braces to the front and rear where the 3-link mounts to the crossbrace, I ripped the mount off how it is in the picture.

The full list of mods and some more pics are at my cardomain site.

I plan on upgrading to a bigger turbo and fuel injection this winter, I've been running this setup for almost 2 years. Before that I had the same setup except with a weber 48dcoe. The nikki cruises better and has better low end(and is way cheaper) but the weber did make a bit more top end power.

stockport 12a 60k miles
TII turbo
TII exhaust manifold with 3.5" spacer to clear stock intake manifold, milled to fit 12a
Ported wastegate, ebay BOV
Rotaryshack nikki carb stock primary jets, 255 secondaries
2 TII intercoolers, cut an end tank off each and welded the cores together
2.5" stainless straight pipe exhaust
GSL-SE fuel pump
Mallory pressure reg
170rwhp@5600 180tq@4600 @ 14psi on the 3rd run with no fan on the dyno, I don't have the graph but hp stayed above 150 past 7k

I'll try to get some more pics of it tomorrow. I used a 20" turnbuckle, drilled out the ends for new pins, 3/4" steel with holes for the bushings, cut out a hole in the floor, 1/8" steel plate welded to the sheetmetal crossbrace with 1/8" steel bracing the front and back, welded the 3/4"steel directly to the top of the pumpkin, then I put an angle gauge on the pinion and used the turnbuckle to set the angle.

More details, pics and your opinion, +/-'s, on how you feel the 3-link performed. Didn't look at your website, but the idea looks interesting.

I did the 3-link because I had to. My wheel wells rusted out and the upper links for the rear end ripped out on a hard 2nd gear shift. So I drove it to the machine shop, cut a hole in the floor and welded on the 3-link. It handles better than the stock 4-link, rear end feels more stable during hard cornering, but I don't know how the one I made compares to other 3-links. I still need to get around to welding a cover on ithe 3-link and fixing the wheel well rust, but I've got a lot of projects right now.

Interesting. Converting to the 3-link is looks much easier than trying to repair rusted out control arm body mounts. Could you post a pick of the cross link? I admire your ingenuity to work around what can be a major rust repair headache and at the same time upgrading the suspension.

I'll get more pics tomorrow, all I have is a cell phone camera and it'll only take pictures in good light. The rest of the car has very little rust, but there's big holes in the wheel wells.

You're right, you need a better camera, lol. If you did a full write up on the 3-link, I think it would generate a good deal of interest. I'm also curious about your delrin motor mounts. I picked up an RB engine torque brace and would like to compliment that with stiffer motor and tranny mounts for the TII install.

I made my delrin mounts and rear end bushings on a lathe in class, just measure the stock mounts and make 'em the same size. If you have delrin engine and tranny mounts, you won't need that RB torque brace. I just have delrin engine mounts and the engine doesn't move at all.
