fender flared SE backspacing
k so, im just curious if 15x8 inch rims will fit up front with 4.5" of backspacing, and if in the back 15x9.5 will fit with 4.5", if i need to adjust the backspacing please shout out, or if i can go wider with flares(it's actually a mode1 wide body from mariah) then help me out too.

I've asked this question myself. for some reason a answer is hard to come by, Either they wont say or they want you to search.
I've searched for a long time and got no answer in any thread on that particular measurement.

offset is relative, backspacing is exact (basically a quote from somone on this very site) plus im ordering from diamond racing wheels, they deal in backspacing

Exactly. Offset depends on the widths of the wheel, backspace does not. If you get the backspace right, then you will clear the springs..the rims might stick out (without flares) or you might rub on the fenders (depends a lot on tires, if suspension is dropped, etc.).
So get backspace right, get a rim width that won't stick out too far (or in too far), then get the right tire size to prevent rubbing (or roll fenders if needed).
If you deal with offset, that particular offset will only work with a certain rim width. An offset that works for a stock rim, won't work with an 8" wide rim..but if the 8" rim has the right backspace, it will fit (might just stick out).

At the front, with coil overs, The amount of back space that you can fit also is a function of the tire that you are using. Too much backspace combined with too much tire sidewall bulge, and the tire sidewall will rub on the spring.
Stated another way, tires with lots of sidewall bulge need less backspace rims.
Tires with very little sidewall bulge can handle more rim back spacing.
In the rear, too much backspace, combined with the rear axle tilting as you do something like pull into a driveway at an angle, will make the inside of the tire rub on the rear inner fenderwell.
I run a wide body RX-7 road racer with coil over front springs, and I run about 4" back spacing all around.

Unfortunately there is very little wide wheel info for the SE's, perhaps because there were fewer made or most owner's don't opt for widebody upgrades. Wacky's statement is correct and I don't argue with him. He says very little most of the time but what he does say can usually be taken as gospel. I'm not sure if his statement applies to the SEs, I've never owned one long enough to check it out, but it is correct for the 4X110 bolt pattern.
Once I finish the big brake upgrade on the rear of the widebody, I'll be running 15X10's with a 5" backspace with room to spare inside and out. On the front I'm running 15X9" with 4-1/2 to 4-3/4" backspace with stock lowering springs. I did have to add 1/8" spacers to clear the TII calipers. My body kit is also the widest one made for 1st gens. I can run the 10" rims in the front and probably 12" wide ones in the rear without clearance issues.
Fwiw, I believe I was the one that made the comment about backspacing being a truer a measurement than offset. Backspace is a constant and doesn't change with with wheel width like offset does. Makes finding the right wheel , for me at least, much easier to figure out with less confusion.
There's a website that I've posted several times that shows stock wheel/tire offsets/fitment side by side with a potential upgraded wheel/tire. I just upgraded my computer and can't find the bookmark. Atm I'm drawing a blank on potential search parameters to find the site.

2 piece SSRs. I now have 6 wheels and 8 centers, one pair which don't fit since they appear to be for fwd wheel shells. I have one pair, 15X7, 4-1/2" backspace, with SE pattern centers that I will be offering for sale. $275 shipped, 48 states. They may not come with the bolts, nor center caps, as I don't think I have any extras for that pair of wheels.
Best place to find SSRs is Yahoo.jp, if you can translate the website, or contact kenn chan on the forum. He found mine and is great to work with. He may be able to source tires for you too.

SE's have same backspacing with non-GSL-SE. Most of our rims are 3-piece epsilons so we're able to play with different backspacing/width.
here my newest set of staggered 16" SSR. its custom drilled to 4x110. I looks different now from SSXI since I've changed the rear lowering blocks to 1" and adjusted the front coil over.
