Yes, one needs FC hubs for the BB upgrade. The base model S4s have the same lug pattern as the SEs, which is what my FC has. It also has smaller rotors and single piston calipers, non-venter rear rotors. Uses the same rear brake pads as the GSL-SEs do. Overall, this brake set up isn't much better than the 1st gen SEs. Mine is far from a base model though. It has a sunroof, AC, PS, and a back seat. With those options, it's designated as an S4 SE. Iirc, the 4 lug models were 86/87 only.

Yes you need FC hubs.

You take your bare spindle and FC hubs, FC rotors, FC TII Calipers/pads. Our kit makes all that fit.

Now, you would never use the 4 lug FC rotors since they are no better than stock SE brakes, as Trochoid mentioned. If you want to use the 4 lug FC hubs then you need to take the 5 lug rotors and re-drill them 4 lug. This is done by picking up one of the stock 5 lug holes and adding 3 more holes. You end up with a dual pattern rotor.

Then you use 4 lug FC hubs, Turbo II calipers and Turbo II rotors.

As far as 4x110MM brake kit. We have one. We do not stock it we build it when there is a group buy of 5 or more guys. This kit includes the hubs, rotors, bearings, wheel studs. All the customer supplies is the TII calipers and pads. This kit was approx $400 last time we ran them. The new price would be $450 for the setup. It is also dual pattern, you can run it 4X110 or 4x4.5

Here was the last group buy thread:

Here are the thread when we introduced them:

number 9 is the aluminum hub. This can be found in 4 lug or 5 lug versions.

Yep! Keep an eye out in the second gen FS section. There is normally a few guys selling and parting. You are only looking for the front hub but you may end up finding someone with the entire front spindle setup. Sometimes they call them "5 lug conversions"

When looking for hubs, you want hubs from the 'hard suspension'. That group includes the the TIIs, 87 Sport, 88 GTU, GXL, verts and the S5 GTUs. The 87 Sport, 88 GTU and S5 GTUs models are fairly rare, the GXLs are the most common. The S5 GTU is the base model for that series and has single piston front calipers. The hard suspension package has 4 piston front calipers, vented rear rotors and upgraded sway bars.
