FB windshield wiper adjustment
lucky me; yesterday my windshield wipers cut out during the first heavy rain all summer which will last (supposedly) the next 4 days. since it's my only car I went to the junkyard to replace the motor, bracket, and arm assembly since I didn't have time to rebuild. the new motor works just fine, but i'm having trouble adjusting the wipers so they work in the correct radius.
for instance, when I put them on the first time (in what I assumed was the at-rest position from the point at which the motor stopped, they turned down onto the hood-cowl.
next I tried from the up position, but the driver's side went way over the windshield.
now, I have the driver's one so it seems to work just a little left (inside view) of the original area, but it stops at a 45 angle directly at eye-level!
is there some kinda trick i'm missing for making these things properly adjusted? the passenger one starts ok as the other one but then gradually misses beat and then get's stuck down at the bottom so I think where it clamps on to the joint is too smooth; any hints for making it stick again?
thanks.
