FB polished rims vs non-polished

I thought someone would be interested in seeing the difference of how a Fb *1 stock rim would look cleaned up. I have removed the painted portions completly from the rim and cleaned them up.

There are pictures of the stock rim non polished also for comparison.

Missed a spot.

I've wondered how the + rims would look if the accent paint matched the body, as opposed to being black.

So when you polish the rims, the car turns blue? Hmmm. My car is already blue. What color would it turn if I polish the rims???

I think I like the contrast of black and silver better though.

I think a picture of the whole car would give us a better idea of how it looks. I personally like the stock unpolished wheels better.

Good question. Maybe someone will post up that has done this with pics.
I personally do not feel that the +1 rims do the FB's any justice.

I figured you would see that, lol. I'm not finsished yet. I still have to do the 0000 wool trick.

I've seen these on a car in Eagle, ID and it looks okay. A cleaned up mint looking stock wheel with black accents much better. Of course I think Panas, wats, or even rewinds look much better

Here are pics on the car. if I was going to keep the car I might of tried painting the accents the same color of the car. But I'm done detailing.

Hmmm, looks like a very good job polishing it Doc. Its close, i'll say the unpolished... but maybe if you would've left the gunmetal silver part in the spokes there(on polished one of course).... I think it would probably look better. I'm not into all the polishing stuff unless its like wheels with polished lip. Thats my opinion though. Great job

Also, You said "if i was going to keep the car"... your selling the blue SA??

i really like the clearcoated look of the factory wheels better than the polished. this could be because you took out the dark painted center sections. the clearcoat is notorious for peeling and i'm not yet sure of an economical way to fix the clearcoat peel without sending the wheels out to be professionally redone.

Polished stock rims are UGLY IMHO. You may as well come over and pick up the 13x7 enkei 92 that I use for storing my cars. Just paint the mesh black and polishe the lips. But I need any ugly rims so I can still roll my cars.

After many hours of 100-, 220-, 600-, and 1000-grit paper, a good cleaning, and some mothers metal polish, my fb wheels look great. Only spending twelve dollars in sandpaper, it was much more affordable then sending them to a professional. If you have the time to re-do them by hand, I would do it. Ill try to find some before and after pics if anyone wants.

Doc, I can't say which I dislike more, the before or after pics. But, I am sorta spoiled to the looks of my Ronals.........
The set of stockers I use, only when aboslutely needed, are curb rashed so bad, I don't even look at them.

a set of poished waffles would be really nice. it would take quite some time to get those polished. a nice polished and clearcoated set would be glorious!

I like the polished but agree that the accent black needs repainted. Im thinking about polishing my SE wheels since Im realizing its gonna be a while before I can afford some panas. I have a bunch of Jestco polishing compounds and buffing wheels but what you use?
BTW nice blue SA, selling it you say?
