fb mirrors onto sa?

has it been done? My sa is missing a lense but the FB's mirrors are fine. They don't mount the same way but I was wondering if there was a trick to it.

I say put some early Miata mirros on it. They look better and you can see a lot more in them than SA mirrors

Should be no problem. I have a driverside FB mirror assembly on my SA right now and the holes matched up fine. I may even take a pic for you tomorrow.

Yep - door mounts are all the same; holes will match up. Only prob, as mentioned, is early production SA doors do NOT have have the hole for the electrical harness to run thru for power FB mirrors. You'll know as soon as you pull a mirror. Drill your own or don't bother with the electrics. FB and SA manual mirrors are actually identical. In fact, if your SA HAS got the electrics hole, then likely the harness behind the dash is PREWIRED to accept the mirror electrics: just add door harnesses and control switch - have 'em in my 80 SA!

I noticed that the SA mirror has screws on the outside, but the FB doesn't. How do you get the fb one off?

You need to to first take off the top part of the mirror and the skrews are inside the base.

THE FB MIRROR WILL FIT THE SA WITH NO PROBLEMS, THERE ARE TWO SCREWS THAT HOLD THE HEAD TO THE BASE, THEN LOOK DOWN INTO THE BASE AND YOU WILL SEE TWO SCREWS THEY ARE THE SAME LOCATION AS THE SA MIRROR.

JUST BOLT THEM UP. THEY LOOK A WHOLE LOT BETTER ALSO,

I DIDNT BOTHER WIREING THEM UP YET, THEY ARE JUST FINE BEING MOVED BY HAND.

HOPE THAT HELPS.

btw.... i HAVE TWO VERY NICE SA MIRRORS FOR SALE .....

LET ME KNOW

You can even see the outline in the paint where the SA mirror used to sit.

Well If The Car Is In Good Condition And Not A Repaint Then The Swap Is Flawless But If You Have Tape Marks Or Fading Then You Will See It Around The Fb Mirror Base.
