IIRC it is 40mm. I'm not 100% sure though. And yeah, they're 14s!

Look up tires for a Mazda Protege 99-01. I know the Kuhmo ecsta ASX tires work extremely well for my Protege with the stock 15 inch steelies. Tire rack lists them as "super high performance all season". Should be a pretty good tire for wet or dry. They work pretty good on snow also.

As far as wheel selection, you can get some wheels. Not very many are available in 15 inch though anymore. Usually it is 16 (maybe) or 17 and up nowadays.

Here is a link of some that are available from superbuytire.com -

I was looking into some wheels from either Enkei, SSR, or Volks. Most of those companies only make wheels in either 16" or 17" and ive looked. My following question is for all of the FB people that have gone with 16's and 17's....

If i wanted to lower the car, would i be safe with a 16" or 17" inch wheel without having any serious tire rubbing, and any issues with clearance... i guess it also depends on the tire, my car is still stock for now... i just need new tires, and i wanted to get wheels. HELP!!

In my opinion, 16 is about the max size for wheels. Though, there are some nice looking 7s with 17s on them. I know someone has a white one with the side molding still on and 17s. Looks real good.

im runnin 17's with a 205/40 tire.....smaller tire than most ppl want to go with and i am runnin 1 1/4 inch lowered rear and 1 inch lowered front.....not had any problems so far.....only thing is im runnin spacers on the front because my offset is wrong and they hit the springs.....i also have the little lips on the inside of my fenders flattend but as far as i know that wouldnt have made a difference unless i was doing a full turn to the point that the wheels couldnt go any further...although im about to roll the **** outta my fenders so i can sit it down some more and get into the majorly negative camber...lol....i will get pics as soon as i can
