call me crazy but all the sites i've seen with stock quarter mile times had the n/a 2nd gens running at mid 16s in the quarter.. almost same hp as gslse but heavier.. I'm going with the SE on this one.

S5's make a fai bit more power than -SE's stock... but they're heavier...

I'd say S5 straight line, -SE in the corners...

Mazda claimed a 16.1 quarter for the SE.....2590lbs with 135hp/133lb ft.
Mazda claimed a 15.9 for the S5,but most tests by mags at the time of intro put it at mid 16's......2800lbs with 160hp/140lb ft.

The 200+lbs cant be offset by only 7 more lb/ft of torque and everyone knows a peaky engine is going to be slower than a flat engine, especially in a heavier car.The extra 25hp is useless if it only comes online for 1-2K rpms near redline. The SE is the king of flat torque curves.....peak torque at 2700RPMs....the S5 peaks at 4000RPMs, which is very "12A-like" of it.....
