fast idle??

hey, rebuilt the carb and put it on runs good but now when i pull the choke i notice that it does not hold the throttle down anymore. the choke pulls out and returns fine and the plate moves but it does not hold @ 3K anymore like it used to...should i be looking at the fast idle??

There is an electromagnet just behind the ****, inside the dash, that holds the choke. It's driven by the water temp switch & some electrical logic. Make sure you got all your wiring reconnected & didn't mangle the water-temp switch on the back of the water pump when you were putting the carb back in.

There is a linkage on the rear side of the carb that connects the choke to the throttle via a cam.

Make sure the fast idle arm is hooked up correctly. It connects to the choke linkage at the bi-metal coil on top and the throttle linkage on the bottom.
