factory spoiler

how rare are the factory 3 piece fiberglass rear spoilers? i have one on my 85GS and i think it looks great! however, i have only owned 2 1g's with the spoiler and i know of one other person who has one. its funny, all 3 cars are black with red interior. was it a factory option, or dealer installed? are they still available from mazda?

How rare? Dunno, but I have one on my SE and in my case it was a dealer installed option. Mariah has a three-piece, if I remember right.

According to Mazda the only stock rear spoiler was a soft rubber onepiece fitted to certain export markets such as Europe. The same sytle fitted on gen2s marginally reduced the cd, but in practice they did not work below 100mph. A very few fibreglass spoilers were made to special order to fit race and promotional cars.

There were numerous aftermarket spoilers and often these were dealer fitted to jazz up the car.

The 3-piece factory spoiler from Mazda's "Finish Line" series was a dealer added option, just like zookeepers...very well constructed solid polyurethane...the airdam was also a 3-piece add-on.

How rare? Much rarer now than 1st gens themselves.

Heres my old silver SE with the spoiler which I found at a junkyard.. it was in bad shape and had to mould it for proper fit

The Mariah one is a duplicate which Im waiting on
