a/f gauge wideband

i want to get a a/f gauge and sensor fitted to my car, its a carbed 13b ive heard wideband is the way to go so the question is can any gauge be hooked upto a wideband sensor or does it need to match the sensor for a good reading?
also how far down the headers should the sensor be? just as the 2 join into 1?

thanks
Mark

If your looking for cheap and descent, Summit Racing is selling one under their own brand name. I'm running a turbo so I only have one pipe, but I think you would want to take the reading from the rear head pipe. You need to have the sensor close to the engine. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Don't won't to spend that much? Dude! Have you been pricing widebands? That is one of the cheap ones! If your not wanting to spend that much, the only other route is to use a narrow band. You could get out for maybe a hundred with a narrow band gauge, and the sensor.

looks like your ebay link is for just the sensor you need the guage too(to monitor what the sensor is sensing), i would recomend the aem uego, wide band is not cheap, you can tune with is reading , a narrow band is not worth buying as its not for tunning,

Define cheap for that one though Matt. Found a couple on ebay for 300

Def be careful off buying on ebay because you get exactly what it says. In the case of what you found, a replacement sensor not the sensor and guage and whatnot.

Wideband A/F guages are not cheap in any way as states you are not gonna find one for any less than 200 even if you are lucky. Ive seen the top end ones for 6-800.

Why exactly do you want one? just for ease of tuning?

PLX m300 is the way to go... very good not bad priced

MPK490p i dont think you know how a wide band works.. the lil gauge you see in all the import mags with rainbow colors dont do ****..

this is what a wideband is. and this is what you would get for a carbed car no ECU

your right im still learning ive read about wideband and wanted to do that but wondered if they would work with a simular gauge you mentioned, learnt a lot more now and know that the 2 set ups are completly differnet (one for show and one for go!)

thanks

but it comes back to why you think you need one...most of us get by without.

becomes uber necessary when turbo-ing a car without ecu, but otherwise its really a luxury

your dead right i dont think i can justify spending that amount of money, possible a cheaper all show version but my tunning will be done by a specialist who has thousands of pounds worth of equipment and more knowledge!!!

that is an unsightly version of a wideband, it would look horable taped to the top of your steering colum(i have a friend who used to rock a similar one in his cavalier taped to the steering colum as there is no where else to put it) check out this wbo2, this is what i use and its worth every penny

http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=67

at the end of the day you will get the same result, ist just how you want to see that result, I do my tuning right off this guage and its excellent
