External Tranmission Question
Is there a device to plug the hole for the speedometer cable? I just got a 5-speed to replace the trashed 4-speed that was in my '79 racecar. I don't need the speedometer cable in the car since it's a racecar but there's a hole that needs to be filled in on the tranny. I tried taking out the original threaded thing that lets the speedometer to screw onto it, but I can't figure out how to get it out.
Help!

Go to the junkyard and get the part that screw into the speedo gear assemnbly. It means you have to cut the entire speedo cable. Then use a quarter to block the hole (or something similar), then install it. I havent done it but thats an idea. It will make it clean. This is just a pocket-item iso it should be free.

Not sure I follow that completely but I think I get it.
I have the speedo cable and the piece that goes in the tranny;which is what the speedo cable threads onto. The thing is I can't get the piece that goes into the tranny out of the old tranny and into the new.
I am thinking of just corking it with a round piece of rubber or something and seal it in there with silicone glue or something, but I don't really want to do that.
I love j-yards too, but all the ones near me are just full of nothing cool and everything lame.
Thanks, Bob

Those are some good ideas. When I'm at the shop tomorrow I'll see what would work the best.
I want to see what Weed Wacker did to his IT car before I do anything though.
