+1 to that! As a kid, my dad's generation didn't give 2 ***** about pretty paint unless it was a "show" car. The motto was "Why waste good money on paint when you could put it into motor mods or tires!?". I think as long as everyone is looking at your tail lights, what difference does paint color make? LOL Now, I appreciate a beautiful paint job as much as the next guy, I've done more than a few hours in the booth, but I'll take a fast car with a primer paint job over a fast looking car with a fantastic paint job any day. Couse I'd rather have both, but sometimes ya gotta choose.

I'm going to **** off a couple generations here, but WTF. Knowledge is power, so I'll empower those who speak without knowing what they are really saying. People that use the word "ricer" AND drive a seven are hilarious! That word started as a slang word for all things made in, or imported from, the orient. LIKE YOUR CAR! If you drove anything not European, or made by "The big 3", you were a ricer! Meaning all of us here at this club. Just as riding any bike that wasn't a Triumph, Harley, Indian or Norton was called a rice rocket. So as the old saying goes, "don't go throwing stones if you live in a glass house." I happen to love my little ricer, as well as all the old muscle cars and Hogs I've owned over the years. Class dismissed!

Wankel Me This!!
to me what ricer means over sized wings on FWD cars and a loud muffler with a auto tranny and crappy paint job. but i do not really like the flat colour because to me it looks unfinished. i love custom paint jobs somthing that stands out from the crowed. my dad used to have a 71 nova with metal flake it looked NICE. but my dad is a body man but his cars where not slow as well.

I recently went to the Chicago Auto Show and saw some really killer newer stuff. I have had in mind to change my brown rx7 to white, untill I saw a new brown on a limited edition Mini Cooper Mayfair called Hot Chocolate. I think I'm gonna try this.
The color on the R8 is sweet as well.

Bring back the brown baby!
Inifinity also has a cool looking brown on their cars that looks pretty hot with their orange seats.
I'm getting my car painted this yer, but it will be the original brown/black color.

There are different kinds of flat black, and most of it looks cheap, probably because it is. It can also be a result of shiny black with all the shininess faded after 20+ years of not taking care of the paint. However, a proper matte finish can look very nice, not just black, but any color. Usually they're darker colors. Just the other day I saw a pretty sweet Mustang that was matte green - kind of almost camo green. And a while back there was a matte black GT-R. The trick is in the quality of the paintjob. Matte colors have to be immaculate and have to be immaculately maintained. And even then, at first glance, the paint would look unfinished or faded, and only after a second take will you see it as an expensive satin finish.

You say 'rice' like it's a bad thing.
