Exhuast temp questions (EGT gauge)

I'd like to install an EGT on my car because, well, it's one of those things I'd like to be aware of. I've heard that they are pretty expensive, but, unless I'm mistaken, this place is selling the street kit for only $126 (part ATM-5744). Is this correct? Is this all I need for it? And, what is the normal temp of a rotary engine's exhaust? I know it's high, but how high is it? Am I going to need some special gauge or is 1600 degrees high enough?

Thanks guys.

i dont think 1,600 will cut it,
racing beat says a rotary exhaust will get up to 2,000
that is why we say it is expensive,
its the gauge thats gonna cost ya,

but yes for what your looking at that is average price,
and i hope the kit your referring to is an autometer or another high quality kit because that is what an autometer kit goes for.

I'm thinking that maybe I'll just get a wideband o2 sensor and a/f gauge for that. What do you think? Would that be a decent alternative? (The only EGTs that have high enough temps look like crap)

Why do you want to measure the temp of the exhaust?
