exhaust overheat light came on, should i just remove the cats?

exhaust overheat light came on, should i just remove the cats?
i hink that maybe why im getting bad gas milage also.
What would you guys do? no emissions out here. thanks

something needs to be wrong for that light to be on, or if you're missing the big heat shield that goes between the cat and the floor.
things to check would be the throttle position sensor, air control valve, and um maybe the carb? you don't need to worry about the cats, they were dead before the light came on

I just wanted to know if I should take the cats off for better gas milage.

Maybe the cats are clogged or not functioning right and overheating?
In any case, I would replace the cats with a bonez race pipe, better gas mileage, more HP and nicer sound.
It's a quick easy install and you can sell your cats to Matt Brown for $170, more than enough to buy the race pipe from Rotary Performance (http://rx7.com/)

While i was working on trans fluid issue today i noticed that the cats were glowing red.... im pretty sure they are clogged....
just put a order in for the race cat. thanks again
