Uhhh, did no one realize how OLD this thread is?

On another note, Mindtrain is not talked about much. I don't know if they even make an exhaust for the 1st gen anymore. Supposedly, RB is the way to go, and I have to agree with going with just a header from them. BUT, their whole exhaust front to back is a waste of money IMO. If it was about $400 cheaper I might have considered it, but for over $1000 for an exhaust system I have to argue about the bang for your buck with RB. Its definately not the best in that aspect.

IMO, the best is either a RB or SDJ header with a custom 2.25" exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers. You can build it for about $500, and it will give a similar sound to RB, but mabey a little louder.

exhaust

On my 79's there appear to be three exhaust pipes. It looks like one is the "normal" exhaust, one looks like it may be from the air pump to the thermal reactor and then out the back independant of the main exhaust, and one looks like air pump air that rejoins the main flow toward the rear. Can anyone clarify what is going on here? what was Mazda thinking with this complex system?

I have the RB system, and I have seen/heard/driven Perfect_circle's car which has the MindTrain system. His car sounds much better than mine. Yes, it is louder, but not insane. And it just sounds soooo sexy!

Pacesetter<RB<Mindtrain<SDJ
Simple math lol!
We all saw it but he bumped an old thread looking for the product. much better than starting a new thread and wasting bandwidth on something already covered.

I got the pacesetter header with the rest custom 2.25 I think it sounds pretty nice....... loud but not too bad. And it's got a pretty good amount of power compared to stock! I've never seen or driven a racing beat exhaust, yet most of the other parts on my car are racing beat! lol You can hear a clip of my car in my other thread here.........

I'm doing a little more digging into this. The guy that was originally building them closed up shop. But maybe we can get the specs and entice someone else into picking this product up again. Somebody needs to give Racing Beat some competition so they can't hold our wallets hostage anymore.

The RB system is good, but just a bit too tame for my tastes. Like I said before, Perfect Circle's car sounds damn nice and I'm damn jealous.

I have a Racing Beat "road race" exhaust on my NA FC. The whole thing with the header and the presilencer the y pipe the two mufflers everything. The one that costs like $1500 all said and done. It is the best sounding rotary exhaust I have ever heard. Its expensive but it's worth it. the quality is good and its actually pretty quiet and i have the "loud" one. I've never been pulled over for noise. It made a very significant gain in power over the stock exhaust. I replaced it all in one wack. It's stainless so you don't have to worry about rust. Mine drives in the rain snow and dry. The exhaust still looks great I just spray it off with water and it looks brand new again. After owning this one I wouldn't buy anyone elses.

You get what you pay for.
