1982 12a RX-7

I have an event on sunday I am going to try to take the car to. I am in an exhaust predecament.

I have the stock exhaust post cat from hanger back. The rest of the cats fell off the car. From the engine I have an RB header.

My question is, can I hook up a temporary test pipe without it making my ears bleed? It is NOISY with just the header. I am worried that I will put all this effort into a test pipe it will still be just as loud. Can anyone think of an off the shelf (something I can pick up at a local parts store) that I can put in there just to muffle it out a little more? The section is only 2'-3' of tube, almost too short for a long cherry bomb. I am out of time ordering from an online source for this weekend.

There will be a future and proper exhaust made for the car. I am just trying to make someones day by having him see his old car on the road again.

You can use pretty much any muffler just to get you by for the weekend. The problem with most mufflers on a rotary car is they get too hot and the kill the muffler quickly. But it would work temporarily

 

I've heard of Borlas and Magnflows being used as presilencers. They may work ok for awhile.

 

Just use pipe. It's cheap and with the stock muffler will be tinny/raspy but not too awful loud. A magnaflow 10426 will work for a presilencer, if that's what your after. It wont last like an RB piece, but it will mellow out the tone.
