Exhaust Choice ?
I have an 85 SE with a 13B engine. The whole exhaust system is shot including the cats. I don't have to worry about e-check in my area. What do you guys think would be the cheapest option for a complete system ?
Go to www.racingbeat.com and get their complete exhaust - presilencer, muffler, and header. It costs around $540. You'll also need the connecting pipe if your's is shot. They carry that too and I think it's around $100.
it will still be pretty loud (at least that's my opinion) with only a muffler. i don't what your threshold for "loud" is, so it's possible that you migh not think so.
but my 2 cents on exhaust, is this: go with an RB system. they've done the hard work for you, and they are as close to "indestructible" as you're gonna get, and still maintain a nice, quiet tone.
it's quite true that you can have a system "constucted" for less money, and it's even possible to get a nice system that way, but if you decided to go that route, make sure you choose your pieces wisely!
1. make sure you know what each muffler is packed with!
2. make sure the pieces themselves are sturdy (meaning they can deal with heat, and they have fairly thick walls, etc.)
3. and make sure that they are AT LEAST aluminized
i'm saying all of this because it makes no sense to go and get something for a couple hundred bucks, and then have the car burn it up or BLOW IT UP in 6 months!

Racing Beat has been at it for twenty some years and posts believeable HP gains for their exhaust systems.
It's about $640 altogether, a bit more than you'd pay for Midas stuff sure but it's go-faster stuff.
Can I interest you in some stickers? They add 100hp... *ducks*

my 2 cents don't get the racing beat rear muffler from what i've heard its chambered noo good for flow or power lame!! i got a dynomax muffler (not the turbo) its straight trough and the second best build quality i've ever seen... it looks like a billet proof flowmaster from the outside
