Question Exhaust back to stock?

I've had my '82 GS for some 12 odd years. I have the RB header/Presilencer/Muffler mod in place and it's working well. but i guess i can't leave well enough alone a now would like to get it closer to stock - as in replacing the Pre-Silencer with a CAT. however, I have obviously done away with the air pump and associated parts. Does anyone have a header/cat setup that doesn't require going completely back to stock? I really don't want to first find- then reinstall all that..uhh stuff.

I hear that the new high flow cats dont require an air pump.

You should talk to your locoal muffler-oligist.

Sure, i'd sell what i'm not using, but ideally, i'm gonna keep most of it in... just would like to find a cat that would bolt to the RB Header. but if i gotta get a different header/cat setup...

Good question! i must be getting mellow(er) as i turn 40 eh? - I did most of the mods in my late 20's. Mainly i'd like to make it a bit less of a fume-y(?). yeah, i know... comes with th' territory.

Mazdatrix sells a high-flow cat that bolts up to the RacingBeat header. I run that cat along with an air-pump and my car does NOT smell at all. You might want to give them a call to discuss your needs.

I'd also suggest that you read this article entitled Rotary Tech: Catalytic Converters up at www.rotarynews.com Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, i didn't think they had one that would... I'll definately check it out. I hope my air pump still works, ideally, I could find a cat that doesn't need the extra 02....

thanx for the link - just when i think i know of all the '7 sites....

Hmm....

If a car smells that bad without a CAT, and Ive been driving around with a stuffed up nose for the past few weeks, I wonder how bad my car smells, with only the stock collector, and what I think is the thermal reactor left.....
