I own a 85 gsl-sE and i finally got the money for a new exhaust system, but the problem is i not to sure on what i should get and how many pieces i need so far,
I seen this straight pipe on rx7.com which is $157 thats with the shipping, headers from racingbeat and a muffler from blk dragon sports. my question about that is, you think it's a good move and will those parts be enough for a full exhaust system, think it's a good combo?

I have a racing beat 13b header for 84-91 models, its the same one that youll see on the racingbeat website, for sale. If interested in a used/low milage but cheap header give me a message.
I would call that a full exhaust system, Header/mid section/muffler. You might want to get a presilencer since a header and a straight downpipe setup will probably be loud.

And don't buy the muffler from black dragon. It is cheap and won't last. My suggestion, and this is mainly because of the quality and how easy it is to put on, is the Racing Beat setup. If Druken has the header for sale, pick that up. Great buy. As far as straight pipes go from header to muffler, it will be loud. That is what I am running on my 12a, and it is loud. Far too loud.
There are more powerful setups than the racing beat setup, but racing beats is the only one I know of that you can buy as a complete kit and it works really well.

if i add the presilencer will the exhaust still fit in place like the stock unit, what i mean is i don't want my rex to have a muffler that pocks out, i want it to be just right like the stock unit. the reason why i said that is because im planning to get the staight pipe from rx7.com.

Searching would have told you that by buying the racing beat setup it will bolt in directly into stock points, and everything will fit like stock, only render more power.
If you add presilencers to the straight pipes from rx7.com it will be pretty much the same thing as buying it from racing beat....

how good of a job does the presilencer do for a staight pipe.
cuz i want the staight pipe but i don't want to be getting pulled over all the time for a loud exhaust.

billy the muffler on your car is a racing beat streetport muffler,so I would go with the rest of the system if you can afford it.
Did you ever get the 5th/6th ports working?That car has lots of potential,and is in pretty good shape.I have skinned my knuckles plenty on that car.

Terrified.
Just cave and buy the entire racing beat center section with the pipes and presilencers, and buy the racing beat header off of Druken, or buy it new. It will save you a lot of hassles as it already has the stock mounting attached to it, and you don't have to worry about making brackets and hangers.

so you rx7 isn't far too loud anymore? since you got the racing beat presilencer on?

The one thing I am not understanding here is why you still insist on going with the bonez straight pipes. Racing Beat makes an entire center section that goes from the bottom of the header all the way back to the muffler pipe that has stock mounting points on it. Why get straight pipe and have to deal with finding a means to get it mounted?
Buy the racing beat center section, buy Druken's header, and you have an entire racing beat exhaust!
And I don't have any presilencers in my exhaust, all straight pipes, and it is far far far too loud for me; however, I have heard them with the presilencers and it sounds much much much better. Racing Beat is known in the rotary world for a reason - they make products that work.

chris! 5th and 6th port? i didn't know that they had a problem. I'm still at the piont where i'm trying to gain more understanding of my rotary so you'll have to bare with me when it come to mechanics.the car is running great still but it is time for a new exhaust system,

If it is then you arn't going to be able to "bolt on" the header that I have (Dual Roadrace Header) and will have to buy the streetable header/collecter part number 16013 from racingbeat.com.

They have one for the 12a with dual outlet, you may see if the header is spaced evenly so you could use that one as well for the 13b (This assuming that the only difference between the 13b road/race header and the 12a road/race header is the gap between the entry of the header, and not the gap at exit of the header.) I would ask them about that.

If he is to go with the Roadrace setup, the streetport center section (part number 16399) is what he would need, guessing that his rb muffler is also a dual (also guessing its the one they use for the complete streetport exhaust system)

Actually, they posted 2 different center sections for this setup, 1 for the 12A RR header and 1 for the 13b RR header. You can look under the "Hi-perf. Exhaust Systems." I personally don't know the different between the two, maybe its the location of the hangers, but there are two. the 12A center section is $10 cheaper than the 13B center section.

Billy get those 5th/6th ports working and you will have a new car.trust me they don't even turn by hand,and they have not been hooked up in years from what I saw.When Jay had the car I told him to fix it eventually,but I didn't ahve the time always,and he didn't have the money.He really never should have bought that car.I hope it is treating you well,and visa/versa.
