Unhappy exh. warning light cames on for no apparent reason

The exh. overheat warning light comes on randomly for no apparent reason. Any ideas??????

Is the exhaust overheating by any chance?

Maybe your cats are on the way out?

Mine did that often. I would go someware, the car would be off for an hour, I turn it on and the overheat light would come on. After sitting for an hour! I don't know what the heck was going on. I richened the idle mix one turn and it hasn't done it since. Go figure...

true dat. rich will use the extra fuel to cool, sort of like a water injection i guess. i didn't even realize 1st gens had exh overheat lights. learn something new everyday.

so what should i do to fix the problem? have the carbs rebuilt and jetted, would that do it?

Or turn the mixture screw, I bet that would do it too . Someone correct me if Im wrong...

there is like 7 different screws on my carb. Besides that, trust me, my carbs need rebuilt

I dont know if its on all years but check the fuses (this drove one of my friends up the wall )hint on his 82gsl it turned out to be the long glass fuse near some sort of computer box at drivers left foot

Thats the way I see it too, I know with a torch, it gets f*&king hot when you throw the oxygen to it...
