Engine won't hold idle with A/C On

So when I turn on my A/C, the engine revs up like it should, but then it drops, revs up and drops. Never goes below 750 RPM, but it will rev up to 1050 and then back down. It is very odd and kind of anoying. Should it do this, or should it hold a steady RPM with the A/C on?

Awsome, I know that is the case. Plan on filling it up all the way this week some time. I didn't know if this is something I needed to fix before that.

Thanks!!

Check for a vacuum leak. There is a selinod that helps control the idle when the compressor is on. Dont remember where it was located exactly but do believe it was in the Haynes manual.
