Engine cut off while driving, and now won't start

While driving to work this morning my 85 gs started to stumble; I was in 3rd gear, casually accelerating. I tried 4th gear, but there was no acceleration at all. A few seconds later, the engine cut out, and I pulled off of the road into a parking lot. I attempted to bump-start the car while it was still moving, but had no luck. The battery is strong, and the gas tank full, however, the engine will not start! I attempted to push start the car again but failed. Could it be flooded? Perhaps the fuel filter or a fuse, or even the fuel pump? The car is stock except for removed emissions. The engine was rebuilt at some point but the ticker reads 800 miles shy of 200k.
Any ideas?

have someone look down the carb while you pump the gas, (no more than twice, youll flood it and add problems) if there is no fuel then there is a problem in the fuel system. check fuses filter, listen for the pump.

if you see gas, then its ignition, although it usually doesnt suddenly go out like that.

when were the emmission removed, if recently, maybe something was pluged that shouldnt have been
good luck.

The emission stuff was removed when I bought the car. It's been running great since I got it, which was about 4 months ago.

Haven't checked anything yet. It's about two miles away and I'm at work . I'll try to head over there during lunch.

sounds like a fuel problem. check the fuse, the pump, the filter.

Turns out it was a blown fuse (the one that controls fuel and ignition). The 10A fuse that does dash lights and tail lights was MELTED--I knew the tail lights were out but I hadn't checked that fuse yet. Holy monkies! Do I have a short? The car promptly blew the fuel/ignition fuse after I put another in.. so it's still sitting there. How do I go about finding the offending connections/wires?
