Emmission failed Suspension?
Emmission failed Suspension?
they failed my "control arms"
so i was thinking, while in the process of ordering control arms from racing beat, should i order all new Racing beat suspenion and Tokico HP struts?
or should i make sure the cars running right? I'm pretty sure 75% of the parts are going to be replaced and rebuilt any way, but should i wait until i do that?
the search button wasn't working, and I need to know asap.
So I apologize for the post. But I was just wondering what would be the smarter thing to do?
btw the cars been idle for 2yrs, if that makes a difference.
thanks ahead of time guys.

Replacing/upgrading steering parts, tierods, idler arm, ball joints/lcas, is always a good idea. Replacing bushings while apart is even better. Once the steering is sound, then brakes, then shocks/struts/springs. I would make sure the engine is sound first before investing in the rest of the car.

Like I'm gonna argue with trochoid. If you have the money available, replace as much on there as you can, because your only going to want to tear it apart once (trust me, I'm in the middle of it). Although I'm curious, how can emissions fail your car for something that isn't emissions related? As far as I know, they had no business even looking at the control arms. You weren't there for a safety. Anywho, good luck.
oh sorry let me rephrase that,
I failed a "safety"
I thought it was pretty much similar, but you prooved me wrong.
I should really watch how i phrase things.
but yeah that car was a total loss, and i fixed everything else.
and I went back and they told me my control arms were fucked, but when I look at them i see nothing wrong with them? but they said they had to be replaced.
but i see what troichod is saying, and i also agree with what your saying.
Engine is going for a rebuild, when it gets street ported.
I replaced my brake rotors and pads already. and my stearing is excellent on the car.
I probably should replace the bushings.
is racing beat very dependable when it comes to suspension?

What, no one want to argue, lol
There are only 2 things that can go wrong involving the LCAs, major part is the ball joint, those or the LCA can be replaced. The other item is the bushings, which are seperate, but may show as a unit. I would ask the inspector which. If the answer is something other than the ball joint or it's bent, I would ask for a review of why the LCA was failed, specifically.
My personal opinion on any 7. If the engine and drivetrain is good, bring the rest of it, steering, brakes suspension, in that order, up to oem spec or upgraded to performance.

yeah man, I know what your saying.
I checked my undercarrage and it looks like my front sway bars a little bent,
is there a way to bend it back to place? or must i replace it to pass safety?
BTW it would be replaced anyway in the near future, just need to get my ride registered.

All of these options have a different answer as to what you should buy for the car, and when, so you're not wasting your time and money. The cars are amazingly good handlers, stock. For a daily driver that will see occasional track use, the suspension just needs poly bushings on the sway bars, shocks, and tension rods, a good set of wider-than-stock tires and a good set of rear shocks and front gas tube replacements....you are now at 90% optimization of the suspension for asphalt and cement road use.
Yeah, its going to be Daily Driven.
with occasional track meet.
my engines going to be street ported and possibly turbo'd.
so i need a suspension that can also handle that.
yeh i was thinking new sway bars, struts, shocks, bushings control arms.
I purchased new tires already, it was the first thing i invested in.
the guy had STOCK tires on his ride, like the original tires.
they were all cracked up and bald. It was ridicolous.
