also figured out that both ignitors seem to be working well. i pulled both of them off and hooked them to o-scope and did every digital electronics check i could think of on them. The previous owner called me and told me he "forgot" to mention the carb needed rebuilding so problem solved there.. now i know why it runs like a dawg. bu i cant keep the gauge fuse from popping to save my life. suggestions?

Ohh...a DSM guy. let me guess.. you took the crank for a walk! bah.
No worries about that with a rotary hehe.
Yeah don't put a 30 in it, that was a joke.
Why did you swap the wires?

according to the diagram the only things on that circuit.. are the gauges and related sensors...... so im thinking something is grounding itself out. because that fuse pops the moment the key is turned to the on position

You should check your ignition coils. Test method is in the Haynes manual, and probably the FSM.
I was driving home from work one day, and slowly lost power.
It turned out to be the coils.
There was a thread not too long ago with the car having the same symptoms,
He had the wrong plugs, I suspect it affected the coils.
Don't know if it has anything to do with your fuse blowing/short.
