Is this a JDM Hood?...
Is this a JDM Hood?...
Does anyone know who supplied / made this hood? I noticed it on another thread and found it interesting. What is the significance of the offset-from-center vents?

I have the same hood, made by Elite racing company (ERC) its the hood set they all used in the 80's, and 90's for the Japan Super Stock racing class.

Oh, and its not Fugly, its just not flashy, the side bump covers the alternator to protect it from heavy rain, something that happens a lot over here.

Conservative people always have such strong opinions, but there's nothing wrong with different tastes. I like it because it was the racing style of the period from the country the car came from; it just seems right.
Kenn, you wouldn't happen to have pictures of your car to share would you? I'd love to see it.

it's perfect. just perfect.DOes anyone know if ERC shipps to the US. Or has anyone workning there that speakes english? I want some of their stuff! I need to move! Japan a-hoy!!!!!
There are a few services that can get you the parts and then ship it to you, but for big stuff like hoods, it's a huge pain that's going to cost an arm and a leg, plus they'll charge a percentage for the service. Basically, its possible, but that $450 hood could end up costing $800-900 or more when you factor in shipping and the service's fee. Also be prepared to wait awhile for it to arrive.
It'd be a lot easier to utilize the skills of some of our forum members and make a replica (Chas's pics are more than enough to go off). But then there's the problem of never being able to agree on anything, and people not coming through with money and/or the product.
Personally I'd be more interested in a reproduction of that front bumper, that one piece design gives a much more seemless and sleek look that still goes along with the stock lines. In a word: Sexy. You could mold an existing aftermarket airdam to the stock bumper cover, then extend the sides to the front fenders.
