There's no photo to compare, but the price looks right. That's probably the one.

You'd want at least 12 gauge wire. I used 10 gauge, but I'm a little prone to overkill when it comes to the car...

I don't think I'd try using speaker wire. That stuff is made for a completely different type of application.

multi strand wire is better than single strand though.

Is this how the kit looks like? I don't know how to hook it up, no instructions.

standard relay wiring. 1 to power, 1 to ground and 1 to fan switch/power wire. and hook a fuse up in there on the positive side, or on the fan one of the 2.

to me by looking at it.

G = ground
1 = power
2 = fan

The little fin for the 1 is missing.

Same kit I've got. No relay is needed, so just run the wire from the power source, to one of the tabs, and from the other tab to the wire for the fan. Very simple...

How did you adjust what temp for the fan to come on? Also, how you hook it up for both of the mr2 fans to work?

you just hook it up to both fans if they are seperate wires. I know someone has a thread about it. probably quite a few people.

thermostat opens at 180* so somewhere there would be good for setting temp.

Powering two fans: Just join both fan power wires together with the power wire from the controller. Nice and simple.

How to set it: I started the car and let it idle until the thermostat opened. Then I let it go for a few more minutes, saw that the gauge looked like it was about at the normal operating temperature, and turned the adjuster to the point where the fan would kick on. After that, I had to adjust it a few more times as the controller "settled in" because it was kicking on a little too early according to my stock gauge.

Hey guys, what sized fan are you running? I tried installing a Hayden 16" fan this past weekend. It looked horrible because it did not sit flush. It kinda overlapped the top of the fan shroud, then down to the oil cooler below. Really looked like **** so I took it off and put the stock one back on.

I am the type that if it does not fit right or look right it will not work!!

I think a 14" fan would work. The only issue there is there is no fan that would be on the oil cooler below the radiator. That concerns me also because the stock configuration of the fan shroud brings air through the oil cooler as well.

I guess I am really starting to second guess the feasabilty of an electric fan and wondering if it is worth the 2-5 HP gain folks talk about.

Gimme your thoughts!!!

thanks!!

The V6 Ford Taurus fans fit the 83-85 radiators perfectly. I can't remember, but don't 79-82 have the little shorty radiators?

I used the dual fans from a Mk1 MR2 (1980s vintage). They fit the radiator really well and pull a ton of air thru them. Plus I have them redundantly configured on two separate relays so if I loose a fan or relay I still have one going.

I don't have a thremo control but I did tie into the overdrive switch to turn them off in 4th and 5th gear. Works great and gives me back ~1 mpg on the highway.

Heres a pic of the installed fans:

I'm using the same fans. The nice thing about dual fans is, you can get two fan controllers and have one fan come on at (for instance) 190 and the other kick in only if you go over say 210.

They do fit very nicely, and they are very powerful...

Yeah, we have the short radiators. I use the Taurus fan and it covers both oil cooler and radiator nicely. Pictures if requested.

I would like to go MR2 fans, just because they look cooler and give more room between it and the main pulley.

You have to make sure the fan flows enough CFMs. I think 1600 is the minimum to cool a rotary. Someone that knows the real spec chime in.
