elect fan pic
since this is a fairly common question:
early 90's ford tarus fan. fits the 83-85 rad perfectly. i dunno about the early ones.
mounting: take the stock shroud off, take note of the little metal tabs that it bolted to. cut two little slots in the electric fan's shroud to slip over the little tabs. that takes care of one side. the other side you gotta drill 2 holes in the rab support. ahh, make sure you put something behind it so you don't drill into the rad itself. <-- did i really have to say that?
it will not fit with the stock fan spacer on, so you have to take that off and get some shorter bolts for the water pump pulley. quick and easy.

a puller is much more efficient then a pusher.

1. Striaght to the battery. (No recommened because it will run when the car is off)
2. When the ignition is turn on.
3. With a thermostat. (Which is what I did. You can adjust the temp it turns on at.)
4. On a switch. (Just don't for get to turn it off.)

If you have the fan in the front of the rad (pusher) the fan will blow air against the rad and still disperse the cold air in every possible direction. Now if you have a the fan on the backside (puller) the fan will capture the cool air from the front and pull it through the rad. Cooling the rad more efficiently.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

my 16 derale is mounted as a puller coz theres not enough room in the front to cover both radiator and oil cooler. but if there is, i would prefer a pusher.

Seems like behind is the best way pulling air toward the motor. AS the cool air hits the front, the fan will pull it thru and into the comparment also colling the hot exhast out also. In front pushing out toward the front of the car at speed would do no good. Or maybe I have that wrong and the guys are pushing it thru from the front.

Here is a link to my cold air intake. If you look at the pics you can see where the themostat for the electric fan. It's located right where I cut through the radiator housing for the cold air intake hose to go.

yes, this fan is loud. this sucker really moves some air. i just have a manual switch. i wanted it that way so i control it, say during racing and such. i hardly ever use it, the only time i have to is sitting in traffic for more then about 5 mins which typically isn't an issue for me.
