Eccentric Shaft Pulley

I was wondering if the eccentric shaft pulley goes on only one way or if it can go anyway it goes on? I realize the timing marks are on it so just wondering if it needs to align with something else? I took it off not thinking about possible alignment issues.
Thanks

There is nothing that aligns it. There is no "key" other then it needs to go on the same way it came off to be able to set the timing. Whatever you do, do not remove the distributor at this point.

Just a note, some of the early ones had a hole in the eccentric shaft hub and pulley that have a lead rivet mushroomed in them. Mine is like this from a 1982 engine. Makes it nice that I don't loose the timing orientation. I'm not sure which years got this though. I do know the 1983-1985 did not have this.

Mine is a 1980... So I guess, I need to start it and see if the timing marks line up, if they don't move it until I see them?
Thanks

As long as your timing is close and withen reason that should work. Theres also a way to check
for TDC by looking at the flywheel thru the inspection plate. Its in the FAQ I think, in case you
removed the pulley and messed with the dizzy or turned while both were out of the engine.

A stock 80 engine will have a rivetted e-shaft pulley.

If yours is not, something has been changed.

Interesting, I see where the pulley has a 5th hole on it, I'll have to see if there is a corresponding spot for it.

That 5th hole should align over a round rivet head on the e-shaft end cap.

You sure about that? I don't remember any rivets when I went to the RB pulley
years ago. Maybe its a CA thang?

Fairly sure - I will look for documentation.

Yes there is rivet so it needs to be drilled out or grounded down to separate the pulley from the main hub. Its not just a Cali thang but maybe west coast since jeff has seen it too tho he is fromv WA state lol

All old schools, including the SA, had the rivit. The FB and later didn't. Maybe the 1980 was a mutt year and some didn't have a rivit, but you should also look for Y or R5 in the usual places.

R5 = rivit
Y = no rivit

When Jeff and Mel agree, I don't need no stinking documentation, heheheh.
