EBAY 1st GEN

Gentlemen - Just looking for your general thoughts on this mint 1st gen on Ebay. Starting bid $7,500? I know it has low miles, but is that what these mint SE's go for now?

Low miles can be just as bad as high miles. Since this guy sounds like a car salesman, this thing is going to be "just like it drove off the showroom floor". It won't have any leaks and it will run perfectly. Whether it does or not, that's the big question. Also have to consider rusting behind the bins, since it sat more than it drove.

I think if he dropped $4k off the price, it may be worth it.

Beauty. The color combo is nice too.
Price is up there, but it looks like a legit car.If its still go the original battery,it must have been driven regularly, and not just stored unused like some low milage cars.

Got one just like it (same color) in new condition with 45K - so hope this does bring at least the starting price - its about time these classics start to appreciate - it should be worth $7500, but not likely $12,500

Seems like reasonable price to me. Unfortunately, original low mileage RX-7s don't seem to be selling well this week:

Should sale easy at about 5 to 6K, 7.5 is a bit high still. But maybe in a few years it would bring that.

Looks like one that has been up for sale a few times. that or the story is just simular. story = Other cars, Like a little better have to get rid of this one.

I'd rather have that for 7500 than a whole bunch of newer **** for the same price. It is a little high for market, but it costs a fortune to restore a 500 or 1000 POS to that level of original condition. I wish it were closer.

A good paint job alone can cost $5000-$8000.

No chance he will get $7,500, I would say $5000 max. I could be wrong (mostly), but it would be good news to those of us who have these cars.

Buy it. Just considering the miles and the price it's excellent transportation.

Cool What Are You Willing To Pay?

I bought my 85 GSL-SE in 1994 when I was station at Point Magu. It had 52k miles on it at the time and one owner, garage kept it's whole life and dealer maintained. I bought it from a high-end car wholesaler for $4,500.00 and he gave me the address of the original owner who I went to visit. Great guy who gave me the entire history of the car. I always wanted an 85 GSL-SE and felt fortunate to get it. I looked at the 7 on e-bay and it is nice but these cars do not appreciate. The beauty is what a 7-Freak feels when he see's a car that hard to find in that nice a shape. if it's worth it to you you will pay 8k or more because you love this car. I drive mine hard and maintain it well and have not had a car payment for 11 yrs and my insurance is $340.00 a year. One other PLUS is driving a car that you won't find 30 just like it on the raod in one day. I hope someone who loves the car will wind up with it and no someone who want's to add it to a list of "look at what I have that you don't" toys.

If the car is as nice as described, it is certainly a great specimen that any of us would love to have. Nice, stock, unmolested first gens are getting very tough to find. However, I would have to concur that market forces have not been in the seller's favor. I could see maybe $6,500 for this car, but really think much over that is unrealistic.

Having said that, I am surprised that the bidding is up to $8,500. Note that the highest bid seller is from Cincinnati also, so he perhaps went to look at the car...or is a buddy of the seller trying to drive up the price. The rest of the bidders have a 0 rating.
