Comparing the possibility of scavenging an Eaton off of something like a Bonneville, or Thunderbird, ect; and spending countless hours fabbing crap to make it work, to buying a 7" Camden kit for my stock 12A. It's my understanding that Eatons are much better in many respects, as they have helical rotors, ect, and are much more efficient.
Problem is, I don't know what cars sported these gems under their hoods. I need makes, models, years, and engine cids. (So I can go to the local yard and act like I know what the hell I'm talking about.)

Also, anyone ever buy an SC from a yard? I don't even know if they sell them, as some have core charges because they get rebuilt. If anyone has bought a used one (Eaton in particular), what did it go for?
How many miles should be on it before I should be concerned about tolerances, ect.

I would definitly not recommend you using a supercharger off any other car like Bonneville, or Thunderbird, etc. These superchargers are designed to stay way under 7000RPM and as soon as you put it on a 7 with it's high RPM, it won't last you too long and all the work on the fab is wasted.

Check out the superchargers from the mid 80's Toyota MR2, they are pretty hard to find, but my mechanic told me a guy in town put one on his 12A and it is VERY fast.

You get a Supercharger off an engine that has two, three times the displacement of a rotary, you'll only have to have it spinning at low rpms, anyway. Just because my engine sees 8K does'nt mean the Eaton will have to see double that. I'm not looking for more than 10 lbs of boost out of it.

What about the eaton types that come in the Jackson racing miata/civic kits?

the 89-95 t-bird supercoupe or 89-90 cougar XR7(very rare) were the ones with the eaton.

The toyota 1.6L 4A-GZE in the 88 and 89 MR2.

yeah the mr2 blower would be pretty sweet too although i have no idea about how hard they are to find
but hey why not just do a junk yard turbo setup? the fab work would be much easier imo
mike did it easy enough, flip a header upside down, slap a turbo on it, fab the exhuast to go back down, and fab the intake **** plus extra injectors for while its under load, or maybe thats just my crazy side kicking in

I just get a litttttlebit PISSY when I enquire about something specific, and someone starts to tell me my other options, as if they were the first to suggest it....Like I have'nt heard "...why don't you get a turbo...?".

I'm just messin around, Gamble! Thanks for the links, and I'll be checking them out right away.
I kinda figure fabbing all the stuff to make the supercharger work will be easier than making a turbo work, anyway. I can't weld, for one thing, but I do have the ability to machine blocks and manifold pieces, ect.
Besides, I've decided long ago that I wanted a roots style supercharger.
I just like 'em. I'm not out to have the best car...hell, it's already just about the fastest one in a 20 mile radius here in "Cow-town" NY.
There's more horses and cows around here than cars!
...And horses and cows are easily impressed. (Or maybe they're all talkin about me when I leave; laughing their lil' horsey laughs, and mooing their lil' cow-moos...****** horses and cows. I'll KILL'EM!)

Now that you see that I'm not quite right in the head, you should also see that a junkyard supercharger will be juuuuust right for me!

The 99+ Lightning uses and Eaton Supercharger on 5.4L of low revving displacement.

Checked out that one site...I wish I could weld like him. Aluminum (as I understand it) is especially difficult.
