Is it easy to remove the front bumper?
Gday,
my car recently was backed into with a tow bar and put a nice dent in the front bumper. I want to take it off and send it to the shop instead of giving them my car. Is it easy enuff to do? Do the indicators come off with it? Any help is much appreciated. Series 2 btw.
cheers,
heb.

You may be able to fix it yourself if the indentation is not too bad. My front bumper was dented almost dead center (previous owner hit a pole in a parking lot). The plastic shroud that covers the front bumper is easily removed- there are access holes to remove the bolts.
I removed the front shroud and then used the high density foam found in newer bumpers to reform my stock shape. I then placed the shroud back on- used a heat gun to make the original shroud pliable and reformed it to original shape. Really easy to do. Took like 1 hour total. Looks like new and you can't see any indentation.
If you need to remove the steel bumper itself- once you get the shroud off you will see how it is attached. Again- not hard at all. If the steel reinforcement is really dented in- you may be able to heat the steel and put a come-along on it to pull it out, then use the foam as described above to reform it..
Hope this helps.

Oh yeah- the bumper was aluminum, not steel as I stated earlier. Mine pulled back pretty damn easy with a little heat..
I re-formed mine because the paint on the bumper cover was not damaged or cracked.. My repair cost $0.00
