easiest way to...

i'm searching for rust on the interior of my car, and i'm having a hell of a time removing the sound deadening tar. i've tried heat (which worked reasonably well- 1500W heat gun), chemicals (industrial stregnth goo gone, just softened it up, stilll a bitch to get off), and tried just straight muscle. the heat gun worked the best fo the passenger floor board, muscle worked well back in the hatch around the spare tire well, and the rest has been a bitch to get off. what is the easiest way to remove the sound deadening tar?

Dry ice and a big scraper did the trick for me. . . the second time. The first time (different car) I just chisled away with a flat head screwdriver

start in a corner and start lickin'. It comes off eventually but you'll have one hell of a case of cottonmouth.

Wait till winter, it'll pop right off with a few shots from a hammer after a winter night in Michigan. It even comes off in big pieces! I know, how does a guy in Florida knows this? Nobody is from Florida, I left Toledo, Oh. 9 yrs ago. If you're in a hurry go with the dry ice, thats how we do it here.

I myself removed it for the 20 lbs or so of useless weight it took up in my car.

i'm not going to replace it, i have some rust where the stock vent holes are under my drivers carpet, and i want to pull all the sound deadening to make sure i get all the rust before i replace the carpet. i don't really want to wait for the winter because my car will be stored in my grandpa's barn (just have some shitty *** buckets from the previous owner and a cracked dashboard, nothing that mice can ruin) for the winter.
