E-Fan Wiring, Fried Controller?

E-Fan Wiring, Fried Controller?
I recently completed the install of my 3.8 Taurus fan and wired it up yesterday using the derale 16759 fan controller, link below.
I knew that the ignition coils have good source of 12v switched so I threw a female connector on the appropriate wire and ran it to the trailing coil. The tab I hooked it to is the output that runs the tach I believe. After realizing this I moved my ignition wire to a constant power source so the fan will continue to run until cool even after the key is off.
Despite adjusting the temp set **** on the controller, it will not kick on the fan. I can supply power to the a/c override and the fan comes on fine.
My question is what kind of power does the tab I used on the trailing coil put out, and what damage could that have caused to the fan controller? I do have a manual and access to all the wiring schematics, but have been working like crazy and was rushing to get it done.
I can post some pictures after work. As always, any help is appreciated. Justin
