E-Fan Temp Switch - Ideal Temp?

So the thermostat is 180deg. What's the ideal temp for fans? I found these two that are easy to install in the S4 housing and readily available:

SW1799
2 Male Blade Terminal M10 x 1.00 Open Makes 185f Breaks 176f

SW1638
1 Male Blade Terminal M10 x 1.00 Open Makes 202f ± 8

And the third I'm not sure if it will fit in the back of the housing when it's installed on the car:

SW1802
2 Male Blade Terminal M14 x 1.5 Open Makes 200f Breaks 185f

Seems like the 202F +/- 8 would be ideal? SW1638.

I've done searches, and there isn't a conclusive answer. Lots of guys use adjustable ones, and I tried the one from autozone, it was junk and just turned the fan on all the time after about a week.

Thanks
-Paul

I'm not familiar with "open makes" terminology. I assume it means "fan on" or "switch closed" (which would seem to be the opposite of open). "Breaks" must mean "fan off" or "switch open".

Since your thermostat is 180 deg F, I would select a switch that has a "fan off" setting above that temp. Otherwise, once the fan turns on, it won't shut off again until you turn the car off, since the thermostat will keep the temp at 180 deg or higher.

Of the options listed, I'd go with the 200 deg fan on / 185 deg fan off SW1802 (assuming it fits).

Yeah, I've got to get a tap that big too.

Just been my experiance that thermostats aren't that specific in degrees, combine that with placement. Just don't want the fan going on and off going down the highway. One or the other is fine, which is why I was leaning toward the 202. Car stayed plenty cool with the stock clutch fan and the fan never fully engaged. Worst this would come on at would be 210. Plus it's winter so I can always change later to another m14 size.

OPEN - is for normally open

Makes means it makes the connection at
Breaks the connection at.

Killer chart from Wells about temp switches for fans or anything else that matter coolant type related. Napa interchange so far has worked for every number I've tried.
