Dynoed my 12a today

So I was part of a group dyno today, it was hosted at gruppe-s's 4wd mustang dyno. I dynoed 107hp@ 6750 and 96@4750 rpm. not too bad, this is a 12a with 5k miles on it, aluminum flywheel, underdrive pulleys, 2ndgdfis w/ tt, rb stock port header and a bonez 2" cat, and a respeed airfilter lid. I'll try to post the graph later, and I have a video loaded at http://www.putfile.com/zyrano

What do you guys think? number look reasonable?

Alvin

My stock 4 port 13B from a rotary truck with about 130k on it made 124 rwhp. It just has a stock Nikki Carb..with an aftermarket Racing Beat Type Exhaust. I think 107 is pretty good power for a 12A.

Not too bad considering that it was 100hp on the flywheel stock. Good job man.

+1 for the 12A

Graph

Thanks guys, here is the dyno graph. This is my dd/autox car, but i have more planned, including a rb streetport rear section, a sterling carb and maybe a mod exhaust manifold, though i still need to pass cali smog, so that's a limitation.

And here are the dyno graphs.

that dyno graph just proves how smooth the 12a's power curve is. nice pull man.

I hope mine produces more than that. I have no emissions, complete exhuast except I still have stock header (that will change soon). I also have the 2gcdfis setup installed adn a RB holley setup. I hope to god I am putting more than 100hp to the wheels!

Wow man, nice work. That torque curve is nice and flat, and the hp curve is excellent. AFR's look good too.

If you're looking for a little more power, I would get a Sterling carb. But, I'm not sure how serious of an autox car this is. I do know it's not Spec7 legal.

Good job man, very nice.

thanks guys, this is actually going to be a pretty serious autox car, i'm ordering 13" diamond wheels and slicks hopefully this month, with additional suspension mods and tuning. The Sterling carb is on my list, though i'd need to talk to sterling and figure out a good smog /performance compromise... I think i can get a good improvement with sterling carb and rb rear section, also want to do a electric fan, all in good time =)

It only takes about 15 minutes to swap carbs, so you could just use the Sterling for raceday and put the original on for smogday....

well, i actually want to talk to sterling/pb&j, because i believe i read somewhere that the smog stuff on the carb won't really affect the performance of the carb, and i don't know if thats true or not. and i don't mind swapping carbs, but that one nut and the throttle cables are a pain. Plus, I already have headers and cats that have to be swapped in and out on smog day, so i'm trying to keep smog day swaps to a minimum.

how did that make 124 rwhp? thats the engine i have in my SA and it has a lot more mods than that, but i dont think itd be that much power to the wheels. the engine is only rated at 110 stock and i think thats at the fly.

If you buy a Sterling with no smog equip, it takes like 5 minutes to take it off. You can get to all 4 nuts a crapload easier. And the throttle cables are so much easier to take off and put on. I think I can get the carb off in like 3 minutes. Also, taking off the top of the carb is done in no time flat.

+1 for the Sterling

hum... is there any performance decrease with the smog stuff, i mean, i know people remove the smog stuff a lot, but it seems just a way to reduce the clutter and not necessary a performance issue? I do know that the smog pump takes a bit of power, but i can't imagine it being a lot...

yes, it's mainly a way to reduce clutter and possible problems. no real performance gain (granted the smog pieces were all setup properly).
