Ok my starter goes out in 88 vert, so I have my starter from my 85 12A. Hummm, gonna be doing a different (turbo)motor and the starter is no good to me anyways. So I try it, humm looks the same, humm same bolt pattern.. but the top bolt (the long one that goes through backwards) is threaded on the starter side. Humm the 88 isnt, so I get the big ole long unbit out, no more threads now Try it and guess what it works 100% Just incase anyone ever needed a starter, a NA one from a later model will work We'll at least I know the 88 one is the same

Im using a 85 12A on my 88 13B, Pretty cool, only difference I see was looked like the motor was actually bigger on the 12A starter. And it sounds different when it starts But I guess they all are interchangable 'cept for the turbo ones
