Question Dumb Question - Fill Overflow Tank?

I'm flushed my radiator, changed my t-stat and put on a new radiator cap (along with sustaining major lacerations!) and began to add the 50/50 mixture. Both manuals I have only talk about putting fluid in the radiator. NEITHER mentions adding fluid to the overflow tank next to the radiator.

Dumb question: should I put fluid in the overflow tank or wait for the vacuum in the tank to takes care of things and just add more fluid to the radiator?

As always - thanks!

it doesnt matter. read the FSM on this procedure. if your flushing you can also remove a threade plug(bolt) on the motor to get all the coolant/water out of the engine too.

I did all that and beleive I got most everything. My cocnern is the expansion tank is empty - should I put fluid in it to the "full" level or let it be? I only added 8 quarts of fluid to the radiator and there should be about another quart for teh expansion tank.

Thanks

go ahead and fill the reservoir, the most likely scenario will be that it's gonna take some off the radiator to fill the lines and pump w/e so go ahead and fill the reservoir so it can even itself out.

Fill the overflow tank to 1/3, no more than 1/2 full.
