Dumb Question - Fill Overflow Tank?
I'm flushed my radiator, changed my t-stat and put on a new radiator cap (along with sustaining major lacerations!) and began to add the 50/50 mixture. Both manuals I have only talk about putting fluid in the radiator. NEITHER mentions adding fluid to the overflow tank next to the radiator.
Dumb question: should I put fluid in the overflow tank or wait for the vacuum in the tank to takes care of things and just add more fluid to the radiator? As always - thanks! |
it doesnt matter. read the FSM on this procedure. if your flushing you can also remove a threade plug(bolt) on the motor to get all the coolant/water out of the engine too.

I did all that and beleive I got most everything. My cocnern is the expansion tank is empty - should I put fluid in it to the "full" level or let it be? I only added 8 quarts of fluid to the radiator and there should be about another quart for teh expansion tank. Thanks |

Fill the overflow tank to 1/3, no more than 1/2 full.
