Dual weber intake w/crbs on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Anybody think this is good? I'm either going to install my system with the money I have now or get some HP with it. Just wondering if this is any good for my 12A stock port.

that is actually a good set-up, it was made by RE back in the mid-late 80's.

it will not give you the 50-60 the seller claims, esp not on a stock port 12A..

but i'd use one,

I have seen them go for upwards of $400

I sold one a while back for $375. Watch it, and try to get it cheap.

Actually there are two listings. One for the 13B and one for the 12A.

Honestly I think that this setup is crap. THe guy is lieing about the HP gain. There is no indiacation as to what the webers are... ie, 40mm, 48mm. They look pretty small to me.

I used to have a dual dellort 40mm setup on my 1st gen 12a block, and they produced roughly about a 45hp gain. I don't think that these that he has up for sale will produce more than 35-40hp.

yeah the hp increase will not be as much, we have already established that.

But this is a good set-up, I used to have one, and actually may need another.... Because I have a dual side-draft set-up (like the one you mentioned) that uses dual Mikuni 44's... But due to the engine not being offset in my car as much as in the SA/FB chassis. I may not be able to use it.. therefore i'll need to go down-draft.

Back to the weber set-up,
it uses Dual Weber DCD's. (the same carb I retro-fited to my Model A to make it more reliable and easy to start) it most likely uses 34mm chokes. which would be 2 chokes per carb, so 4 34mm chokes (rather than say 2 45mm, like a 45 DCOE weber) ... However, some people with Bridgeported 12A's and 13B's swaped the chokes to 37mm.

If you need more info, let me know, I can type some info from my old RE catalog if you need.

I have this setup on my rx-7 and it is great when it's tuned and synchronized. Car and driver did a test of the Rotary Engineering (you can sort-of see the RE logo on the intake) Dual Weber 36/36DCD and said that it was 155 hp. That was with the whole kit that RE sold back in the early 80's. It's not the fastest thing around, but it's fun to drive, and easy to work on.

lol Misthael thats the problem with posting a ebay find like this you end up with about twenty times the competition for the item.

Misthael,

I deleted your post. Despite the fact that you're mad at trainwreck517 for winning the bid, you didn't make it clear that you were bidding on it. The last message we got from you was:

Which would leave us to believe that it was fair game to bid on it. To post something from ebay on here would invite people to check it out and bid. You can't really "claim" an item, but you can politely request that people not bid IF you're sure you want to win it. It wouldn't be fair to anyone else if we expected all e-bay auctions posted to be 'claimed' even if the person didn't say so.

Also, please in the future do not use obscenities or personally attack someone on the board. If you have a problem take it up in PMs. Posts like your last one will not be accepted here.

Jon

What did I say? I all ready forgot. I went to bed after that and haven't been home since I woke up. It's just really @#$^&*! annoying that every performance upgrade for my car is going to cost at least $800 and as soon as I find something on eBay for less I lose it. I know I shouldn't have posted it here now. The rotorheads I know are like brothers and wouldn't do that, but I don't know all of you and I should have expected some comeptition so oh well. Good luck with the carbs. Have a nice day.

I don't have almost a thousand dollars to spend. More like $500 max. I may just end up getting a rebuild and a tune up so it will run good for now. I'm starting to hate rotaries. Can't do crap with them here in OK. Just put a piston engine in them.

When I get the Camden and Holley later this year I will be selling a Mikuni 44 with intake and K&N setup... all with less than 4000 miles on them. That'll be alot less than 800 bucks. So hang on, there is a Santa Claus.

Expect to pay ? Depends on age and condition. I will let my whole setup ( 4 port intake, 44PH, trimmed velocity stacks, and K&N w/ end cover ) go for around 450 or so. That's 1/2 what I paid new 10 years and 4000 miles ago.

I wish I could keep it for/with a Camden setup, but no way.
